Water for Elephants
is a film adaptation of the book by Sara Gruen, & tells the life story of Jacob Janowski, a young man who runs away from home, aged 21, to join the circus. This circus is Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth, but turns out to be no glamorous experience for Jacob. The is harsh where the animals are under-fed, mangy & living in sqaulor. Once it is discovered that he has vetinary skills, he is put to work looking after these down-trodden animals. Here he is often beaten, & ill treated by the animal's handler, August, certified as paranoid schizophrenic. I won't give away any more info, 4 those of us who want to watch the film with green eyes!
