I know why the vampire sparkles!

I was doing my Twilight Saga rounds & found this interesting article of alternative observaions by ktholtDo read, enjoy, & leave comments if U like!

I finally read Twilight, and after hours of internet research, I’ve found a solution to a major problem I had with the story. I know why the vampire sparkles!

Of course, innate body glitter is just the latest thing wrong with vampires at large, so I’ll start with the broader picture and work my way to the answer to that new riddle.
First, I assert that vampires must be giant, highly evolved insects. That makes sense because most of the hematophages in the natural world are bugs.
Second, like many real bloodsuckers, vampires must feed before they reproduce. However, unlike anything in the natural world, vampires seem to reproduce entirely through horizontal gene transfer. If they don’t kill their victim outright, then vampire genes invade the host and trigger…
Metamorphosis. According to Twilight, the process takes days and is excruciatingly painful, which is logical given that the victim undergoes complete hystolysis and histogenesis without the benefit of a pupal stage, let alone general anesthesia.
But wait! How do vampires retain the memories of their human lives? Well, butterflies are apparently able to remember things they learned as caterpillars. While it’s doubtful that the same processes would apply identically to higher-order animals, anything is apparently possible with enough suspension of disbelief.
Furthermore, vampires appear to be ectothermic, or never warmer than their environment. ‘Cold-blooded’, in other words. Their stone-like ‘skin’ also seems more like an exoskeleton than warm, soft, human tissue.
What about vampires’ superhuman abilities? The Tiger Beetle is technically ‘the fastest running land animal’. The strongest animal is the world is the horned dung beetle. Insects also have incredible vision; most see colors invisible to humans and bees see in color at five times the speed we’re able. Vampires and other insects don’t breathe like we do, nor do they possess a human heartbeat. As an added bonus, invertebrates are notoriously hard to kill.
By now, I’m sure you’re all with me; vampires are bugs. But what kind? It took me a while to figure it out, but now I’m convinced that vampires are nothing more than overgrown, parasitic…
Butterflies!

There you have it. Vampires are gorgeous, metamorphosis is a key part of their development, and they are natural experts at camouflage and mimicry. Some butterflies have even been observed feeding on blood.
Why do they sparkle? That’s easy: Vampires, like butterflies, are covered in tiny iridescent scales.

Fansite version of 'Bel Ami' announced, celebrates Robert Pattinson's forthcoming film adaptation

Throughout the winter and early spring, Robert Pattinson was busy in Budapest, Hungary filming Bel Ami, a book-to-screen adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's novel.

In the film, Robert Pattinson portrays "Georges Duroy," a social ladder climber who uses powerful women to get his way. Pattinson's co-stars in the film include Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman, and Kristen Scott-Thomas, and the film's release date is tentatively to be set sometime in 2011.
To celebrate Pattinson's work on this film, his oldest fansite, Pattinson Online, has worked with Fandemonium Publishing to create a fansite edition/version of Bel Ami, the novel, ladened with images of Robert Pattinson on the set of the film.

Here's a bit of information about the book, sent by Pattinson Online's administration team:

We worked together to thoughtfully consider each photo, its placement, and the appropriate quotations from the book to bring a brand new version of this classic novel to readers and fans.
Bel Ami is a contagious read because it is written in a manner that both the casual reader and the avid reader can appreciate. We believe our version of the novel will encourage more of Rob’s fans to read the book and build anticipation for the film. While our version focuses on branding the character of Georges Duroy, our ultimate desire is to encourage Rob’s fans to support him in all of his current and future film roles, something we believe distinguishes this project from the fan material currently on the market. In working together, Pattinson Online and Fandemonium have delivered what we feel is an engaging book that respects a classic work.
The Bel Ami Pattinson Online Fan Site Edition will be available for sale on Amazon and its affiliates, as well as Barnes & Noble and several other major book retailers. You can see the book’s official landing page at http://www.belamibook.com/.
While the book itself is a big deal for us at Pattinson Online, we’re also excited to be partnering with Fandom Gives Back, a fandom-wide initiative that has raised over $140,000 for childhood cancer research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand. We recently auctioned off two copies of the book which raised $145 for FGB. You can learn more about this awesome project at the official FGB site. http://thefandomgivesback.blogspot.com/
To encourage fans to read Bel Ami, we’re also hosting a Bel Ami Book Club where fans can read and discuss the book along with us. We are hoping to get this started in the next few weeks.

ONE TALENTED FAMILY: WESTSIDE CHATS TO LIZZY PATTINSON

“Does anyone here like Twilight?” A murmur of ‘yes’ was discernable from the back, where a small crowd of teenage girls had assembled en masse, hoping to catch a glimpse of a certain leading man and this month's WestSide cover star. You’ve got to admire her candour
Robert Pattinson’s stunning sister is an old hand on London’s gig circuit; she found a measure of early success (and a few top 20 singles) as a member of UK dance act, Aurora.

Dreaming
Her soft, wistful voice also provides the backing vocals on the track 'Who Are They' in the moment when sullen vampire Edward Cullen enters the cafeteria and locks eyes with Bella Swan.
It was a Thursday night in July and the Elgin Food Pub & Music House in Ladbroke Grove was packed to full capacity. No doubt the crowd was curious to find out whether this singer-songwriter with a famous last name possesses the talent to make it in her own right. With a roster of original songs under her belt, she's been raking in critical acclaim for her solo performanes.
Just seconds into her performance and we had our answer. A friend hit the nail on the head, suggesting that Lizzy has that rare kind of jazzy ebullience that would do justice to Sam Cooke’s Summertime. Refusing to be tied to a single genre, she channels contemporary pop to 50s blues, with a range of influences from Madonna, Beyonce, Kate Bush and Fleetwood Mac. It’s thoroughly easy listening.
A dab hand at the piano, Pattinson writes the lyrics and top-line for all of her own music. However, a few big names have lent their compositional talents to the budding starlet. Her biggest hits were the result of recent collaborations with Starsailor and her jack-of-all-trades little brother, Robert.
Pattinson faced a tough crowd that Thursday night. It was one of those balmy summer evenings where anything less than a blast of sub-zero air con wasn’t going to cut it. Stepping out in a full-length maxi dress, the singer-songwriter waved in her hands in mock exasperation and quipped, “Guys…are we hot enough?” Warming to her sarcastic sense of humour, audience members rigorously fanned themselves with cocktail menus to avoid stir up some breeze rather than risk cutting short the performance.
Chatting to the singer after a successful set, we touched on the inspirations behind her songs. A classic girl’s girl, she lists vintage fashion, old movies and the romantic idea of “a smoky club in the 40s” as her key influences. Clearly, Lizzy’s songs aren’t fuelled by bad break ups or residual teenage angst. “My heart hasn’t been bruised that many times,” she joked.
Rather than shrinking from questions about her famous brother, Lizzy views his success as a way to promote her music. “I like it,” she remarked after signing an autograph for a gawky teenage admirer, “Twilight is giving me opportunities to make new fans.”

Rob's Diet Secrets?

Twilight: Eclipse star Robert Pattinson can’t cook but is eating healthier than ever, thanks to a service that delivers fresh meals to his home every day.

“In Los Angeles I started using a delivery service which only delivers fresh and healthy food, Pattinson, 24, tells German newspaper Sächsische Zeitung. “Even in the morning I have a bag with healthy food delivered to me. I’ve never in my life lived as healthy as I do now.”

‘I CAN ONLY MAKE TOAST’

Robert, who lives a vagabond lifestyle because of his hectic work schedule, says there's no place he can call home right now.
"My home consists of three suitcases which I live out of," he says. "Everything is in there".

Unlike fitness fanatic Taylor Lautner, who works out nonstop and eats every two hours to stay buff, Pattinson is less concerned about weight and more about convenience.
“Of course I miss homemade food, but I’m on my own or on the go most of the time," Rob admits. "And I can’t cook myself. I only just manage to make some toast. I don’t seem to have the genetic endowments for it. I’m incapable to tell what tastes good and what doesn’t.”

Robert Pattinson runs like a Superstar

Robert Pattinson has revealed he had to train to run like a true action hero for new Twilight movie Eclipse.

The 24-year-old Hollywood heartthrob confessed to Reveal magazine his run in the first two Twilight films as brooding vampire Edward Cullen had been a bit weak, so he hit the treadmill.
Robert laughed: "I had to learn how to run properly. In the last two films, I ran in a limp/skip. I had to run more solidly this time so I spent a lot of time on a giant treadmill. It was like one of those things that mice run around in."

Robert also had to brush up on his fighting skills for a scene with new co-star Bryce Dallas Howard, who plays villain Victoria.

The actor admits he used a body double for the most dramatic parts, but movie bosses were still impressed with his action moves.

Robert revealed: "Weirdly, one of the producers told me: 'Wow, you look so enthusiastic in that fight scene. Much more than in any other one in the series'. It's always hard to do stuff with Bryce because she's the gentlest person and is always laughing. And she's afraid of hurting me!"
